Check it out..a lot of it was WAMC questions, but some good answers nonetheless.

I am kind of perplexed because she told someone that if you have a late MCAT (or are getting the score late) don't submit your app for verification until you get your score or unless you're doing really well on the practice tests. I'm taking it in July and was planning to have everything submitted by June 5th (whatever date)...hmm?

I generally hate /r/premed but it's good to see an informed person there giving advice.

About the MCAT, I think she says that because it's generally not possible to retake a late MCAT and if you do badly then you're stuck with that score for your application which is kind of a waste of an application cycle. If your practice scores are good, then you'll likely do well so you don't need to worry but if you're scoring sub 30's consistently then you might want to reconsider your options.

She's wrong. The idea behind this is likely not to waste money cause if you were expecting a 36 and got a 30, your school list is going to change so why submit before you get your score back?

Well the answer is to get verified early so you're not waiting an additional month after you get your score back. If you submitted AMCAS in August when you got your score back, you would not be verified till October and you would be way behind.

The best thing to do, according to SDN wisdom, is to just add one of your in state schools at verification and then add the rest once you get your MCAT score back. This way you can still target schools based on your MCAT score and you are not late. During that wait time, I would also use SDN's school specific threads to start on secondary essay for schools you think you'll apply to so you are complete within days of getting your score back.

Edit: TheShaker makes a good point. So yeah, I agree with that, if your practice scores are 30+, submit early as I stated above, but if they are below that don't submit at all and plan on retaking the MCAT in January- unless you are okay with DO.

Haha, thats funny cause they complain about SDN all over that place.

Right, thats what I was originally planning to do. Oh well, guess it just depends on this MCAT... :banghead:
