Hey Everyone,

My name is Matt and I will be starting in Drexel’s DPT program in the Fall of 2019. I know this is pretty early, but I figured that we should make our own thread and Facebook group to help us get connected beforehand.

I’m looking forward to meeting all of you and starting this journey together.

What’s up Matt. That’s awesome. I’m trying to decide between Drexel and a few other programs. What made you choose Drexel?

I think that the interview day played a huge role in my decision. Before the interview, I knew that Drexel was a very strong and reputable program with competitive tuition. However, I was a little uncertain about their quarters. My interview day completely changed things for me.

I had a great experience on Drexel’s interview day. The interview was incredibly laid back and conversational. Honestly, it felt more like a personal information session, rather than an audition. The staff went out of their way to welcome us into their program and make us feel comfortable. They also didn’t try to intimidate us by saying how difficult PT School is going to be. I left the interview feeling really excited about the program and so far, no other program has made me feel the same way.

I get that. There was something about the program director that I really liked. I don't know what it was specifically, but I agree that everything was very comfortable. They definitely didn't try to intimidate you, unlike some other programs where I interviewed. They also seem pretty responsive to student feedback

does anyone know approximately how many spots have been filled at drexel so far?

Did any of you guys interview at both Temple and Drexel? I narrowed my decision down to those two and am having a lot of difficulty deciding between the two. Both schools ranked among my top 3 choices out of the 11 schools that I applied to. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I didn’t apply to Temple but I shadowed a recent grad who went there and she was absolutely fantastic. You’ll be fine with either school

Hey Matt! I’ve also put down my deposit for Fall 2019. Do you know if a facebook group has been made yet?

I was in the process of making one, but needed someone else to add into the group before I can finish it. DM me and I’ll add you to it.

I was accepted a little while ago, I really really loved the program but I am waiting to hear back from my other schools before I decide. Did you guys hear back from all your schools before depositing at Drexel or was it your number one choice?

I haven't deposited yet. I've heard back from most of the schools I applied to, so I think I may deposit sooner rather than later.

I got into Delaware, which I thought was my top choice originally until I interviewed there. Something about the program was off-putting to me.

Congrats! When was your interview?

Yeah, I am debating to just deposit anyway because I am pretty sure Drexel was the best choice for me. Unfortunately, some of my schools are pretty firm about holding decisions until January

Hey, I just committed to Drexel also. Would you mind adding me to the Facebook group?

Absolutely. You're going to have to change your contact details in your privacy settings on this site. Once you do that, send me a private message and I'll add you to the group.

Just curious if anyone else sees the 150-mile travel requirement for a clinical as a drawback? I loved Drexel and I would have committed already but I am worried about the travel requirement, leaving the apartment I rent, finding a new apartment and moving hours away for three months is definitely holding me back on committing. Anyone else feel the same way?

I am actually excited about the requirement, but, perhaps that is because I know they usually assign clinical sites based on accommodation. My brother lives in Denver and my grandmother in Orlando...so I plan to end up there. I can understand that if you do not have connections around the country the requirement might be an inconvenience. If you do, however, I suggest living with the connection as most current students do once the time comes.

I'm from NYC so i'd probably just go home for the clinicals. My only concern would be subletting my apartment and if it would even be possible. Seems like a waste of money if you don't =\

My family lives all within a 50 mile radius of Drexel. Which is so great when I am visting for the holidays and special occasions but it means I dont have someone to stay with far away. The idea of renting two apartments at the same time (if subletting doesn't work out) kinda worries me.

That is lucky that you can just go home for that clinical, that seems ideal for you. I have talked to a few current students at multiple Philly schools and many have said that subletting and finding an apartment in your clinical location is hard because it is only for 3 months. Most people want a longer commitment I guess.

Just decided today that I’ll be going to Drexel! If there’s a Facebook group any chance I can be added?

I just put my deposit down today as well! How do we get added to the FB group?
