Hey,
I am new to this forum and I have done a search about this but I have not come across anything concrete. I will be attending the Dexel IMS program in August and am trying to find housing right now. Is it true that the Stiles dorm rooms are unfurnished? That is what it said in the website. I thought it was weird because I always thought dorms were furnished. What are some good places to look for housing? Any good websites or specific apartments that are decently priced? I live about 7 hrs from Philly, so I will not be coming up until the beginning of August and would like to finish all of my housing stuff from home and move right in when I get there. Finally, how many people have cars there and how easy is it to park (basically, is it convenient to have a car or just a hassle because of parking)? Any input would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

I'm in the same situation...applied and got into the IMS program...i'm a person who likes to live alone, so would stiles be a good option? I also have a car, which makes me more inclined to find an off-campus spot...can anyone shed some light? THanks

Hey Aceshighk,
Have you taken a look at the school and area yet or not and when do you plan on going up to check things out? i probably won't end up going up til atleast Aug 5

I've taken a look during an open house....center city seems pretty nice...

I just graduated from Gtown in DC, but I'm currently back in texas...i'm looking for places in center city, philly on craigslist...if i find a few places, i might go up there in mid-July to check them out...otherwise, i'll be in the area late July (25th or so)...

are you going to live on-campus?

Hey, I am currently looking for a roommate. I am starting a lease at a 2 bedroom 2 bath apt directly across from Hahnemann/ Drexel center city (where I think you will be taking classes). The building is the Packard Motor Car building. It is a historic landmarks building. Rent is 1895, your share would be 900 plus utilities. If you are interested, pm me. I am starting a post bac at UPenn and can't wait!! Good luck all!

(sorry I copy and pasted from another place I posted- I really need a roommate! the girl I was supposed to live with got into her waitlisted school and isn't coming to Philly anymore!)

Is anybody living in Stiles and bringing up their car? I am not exactly sure if there will be anywhere to park my car. And those of you who are coming from a ways away, will you be buying furniture or renting furniture? The woman at Student Life told me a couple places about renting furniture. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

If any of you are willing to drive a little, I'm listing a 1500 square ft. 3 bed 1 bath townhouse soon in the greater northeast. It's roughly a 25 min drive to Drexel. Or close to regional rail if you don't want to bother with driving.

The listing price will be $160,000, and it's updated throughout with new carpet/flooring, new countertops, newer appliances (new dishwasher, new stove, new washing machine - the fridge and dryer are a few years old but work great), skylight in the bathroom, small fenced backyard, off-street parking, wood burning stove in the large family room, and there's a guy there this week putting up the crown moulding and a fresh coat of paint, and it's being listed once he's done. We also might consider leasing/renting to the right person/people.

PM me if you have any questions, or if you want pictures (I should have them soon after the guy is done).

Hi;

I don't know if you have gotten an answer yet, but I did the MSP program at drexel and will be going into the IMS this year. I live in Stiles. They are not furnished apts. There is only carpeting in the bed rooms. But I don't know if there are rooms left at this point. You might want to check on that soon.

Other places to check would be the packard building. it's a little more expensive. but it's really nice.

parking is expensive in philly. like 180 a month. i don't have a car, but one of my friends does. the only thing you really need a car for is to get groceries. but even that you can do online at acme.

i hope that helps
