To those people have who have been accepted to the Drexel IMS program, have you found any off-campus housing for the month of August-September? I've been looking, trying to stay at a hotel for a month but the rate is ridiculous ($1700/month). If you have any information, or have already found a place to stay, could you please share it with me?

I live in Northern Liberties, which is about 10-15 blocks east of the Center City campus. The rent is substantially cheaper than Center City and the place is really up and coming with bars/restaurants.

They'll send you a weekly email starting around the middle of june that has a bunch of housing listings and a list of people in the program looking for roommates...

I am not very familiar with Philadelphia. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start looking for apartments? Is University City close to the place where IMS, MSP people take classes? Whats around the classroom location that would be a reasonable place to live. It's hard to got to Philly weekly classifieds or craiglist if you have no idea where Fishtown, Rittenhouse, South Philly, etc.., is in terms of location (how close to school) the transportation available or house crazy ass the neighborhood is. I have friends in South Philly, and Bella Vista, both seem cool with South Philly being a little too far. Let me know if you have any advice. THanks.

Go with Northern Liberties like someone else suggested. Brewery Town might not be too bad either (near the Art Musuem). Old City and Center City would be too expensive. 15th and Race is right in center city. University City is about 20 - 25 blocks away (but easy access by septa).

EDIT:
This might help:

Drexel Med School is in East Falls, the undergrad in University City and The IMS Program is located right at the cross section of the blue 611 line and the brown line (676) on this map below.
