Hi,

I'm just wondering which program is better. They are all post-bac programs. First let me say something about my background. I am a graduating senior in Biological Sciences major with a 2.9 science GPA and a 22 on MCAT. My goal, of course, is to get into MD or DO program, eventually. I have applied Drexel MSP, Virginia Commonwealth University (Pre-health, Human Genetic Program) and American University post-bac program. I just want to hear some of opinions from you guys who have been thru this. Actually, any opinions are welcome. Thanks a lot and good luck.

I just got into VCU medical school after doing the VCU post bac program. I had a 2.8 GPA in Ugrad but a 33R MCAT. The program was very, very difficult but if you do well you will most likely get in somewhere. Your first priority should be raising your MCATs, you will not be accepted to any MD program unless you get a 27 or above and will have difficulty getting into a DO program. Take practice tests from AAMC/Kaplan and buy the Kaplan/exam crackers books 'cause they really consolidate the info you need.

That being said, I would recommend the VCU post-bac program but would recommend you don't do the genetics program and instead do the physiology, anatomy or biochemistry programs. They are more respected by Med school and the professors have a lot of connections. Plus I heard the genetics program is tough and you dont want that. The other programs are bad enough. For you, I would recommend biochemistry. You take fewer classes the 1st semester allowing an easier transition.

PM me if you have questions about MCAT or VCU post bac
