all around the same cost, all P/F preclinical - not sure about internal rankings

Drexel (Philly Campus)

Pros:
- get to live in philly, students seem happy
- close to friends in NYC
- great match list (interested in a few things - ranging from somewhat to not competitive)
- rotate throughout different health systems, awesome outreach opportunities
- I think flipped classroom could be nice since it seems like hardly anyone goes to class at the other schools unless required
- 70% is a pass

Cons:
- 2 hr flight away from home (not bad, but can't drive)
- rotations are a lottery system, could end up pretty far (don't like to drive 😀), and student evals may play a role? not sure if that creates a competitive vibe
- want the chance to live in a cool new city but also match back home in chicago, which seems possible

SLU

Pros:
- 1.5 year preclinical - does anyone know if they have internal ranking? or what the pass/fail threshold is?
- home hospital system* like right across the street and newer hospitals
- more of a campus vibe, students seem really happy
- match well (not a ton in chicago maybe by choice)
- just got bumped to a t1 research institution? also good service opportunities
- eased into curriculum a bit, something required ~everyday so you get to interact with peers

Cons:
- 4 hour drive away, 1 hour flight but expensive!, 6 hour train
- need car from M1
- from downtown chicago and even though I want to branch out i'm worried st louis won't feel like home
- facilities were a bit run down
- step 1 middle of M2, but they seem to prep kids well
- just don't have as much information atm would love to talk to a student

Rosalind Franklin

Pros:
- 1 hour away from home (and my whole family)
- support seems super woven into the curriculum and program, students emphasized how you can always find help
- get to potentially live back downtown for M3/M4 (could be lots of commuting)
- rotate through different communities/hospitals
- matches well with a ton of students staying in IL/chicago

Cons:
- was told 75% p/f threshold
- thrown straight into biochem and anatomy first half of M1
- not as many step resources or research opportunities
- great volunteering clinic but you have to apply
- middle of nowhere around the campus but could get over that knowing I'm close to home
- no home hospital (pro and con)

Anyway can't sleep feel lucky to be in this spot as a reapplicant but also dread doom and fear

Flipped classroom will not be chill (disclosure: I haven't experienced flipped classroom since high school). You have to go at your classmates pace, which is great if you are the slowest one in the group but not good if you understand acid base disruptions and have to sit there while everyone slowly grasps it over the course of 2 hours.

If you want to be in Chicago, go to Rosalind Franklin.
