Anyone planning to attend?

i think I will in March

I called them up and they told me that the open house is basically gonna go over all the stuff thats already on their website. I am in Oklahoma and was thinking about going, but I dont know if its going to be worth it. You only get to talk talk to couple of girls/ladies that manage the program, you will not be talking to the adcomms or any profs. I asked them if I could meet with any profs that tach in the program and she said probably not since they are too busy, unless I contact them myself. Still debating whether I should spend 500 bucks?

Wow, not being able to talk to profs (and additionally current and past students) and asking for a lot of money, plus traveling expenses sounds like a rip off to me!

Thats what I was thinking as well, I mean at least have one prof and couple of students there so they can give you first hand account of the program. I mean if they are having an open house which isd an 'official event' I would assume that the profs would not oppose being there for 2 hours...its at 5:30 pm anyways!!!🙄

My advice would be to go IF you are very serious about attending the Drexel post-Bacc. Here are my reasons.

1. The school (the post-Bacc, not medical school) are in downtown Philly connected to a large inner-city teaching hospital. Some may not like this environment (I don't know where you are form in Oklahoma) and it would be good to see what you are getting into before you are there.

2. The reason why you cannot talk with any of the faculty is that most are physically located at the med school and not downtown. The director of the program will come and talk with you (he is also one of the Biochem profs), but what do you really want to get from talking with a faculty member? As for students, they had some at the info session I went to, but that was three years ago. If you really want a live student while you are there just grab ANYONE in that building that looks like a student your odds are high you will be grabbing a post-Baccer.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, JUST ASK ME. I DID THE PROGRAM (MSP AND IMS) AND HAVE NOW MOVED ON TO MED SCHOOL. I am more than willing to help as it is a huge decision (finacially and well... it is big move).

3. What is $500 dollars in the grand scheme of things? I flew out there and asked to interview with someone while I was there. It made my decision to attend and it also showed them that I was serious. I spent so much money on interviewing last year that it makes me sick thinking about it. However, before the post-Bacc I had only one interview..... after the post-Bacc, I became sick from all the money spent on interviews. Life is funny that way.

Cheers,
WISC-ite
