Drexel U.

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Drexel is a program that has been rumored to be on the edge of closing for a while. This talk has been going on for the past several years. They have lost a number of faculty members and their PD left 2 years ago. They have very few fulltime faculty members now and their surgical and clinical numbers are subpar. The problem is that there are 3 other ophtho programs in Philly. Most patients go to Wills or Scheie, or even Temple.

Is it really that bad? Or is it better than nothing?

No, it's better than nothing. I would encourage you to check it out for yourself if it doesn't conflict with another interview. It's better than not matching anywhere if that's what you're asking. I'm just giving you a heads up cause I knew someone who was a med student at Drexel and he gave me the inside scoop. Plus, I knew a couple of people who interviewed there and ranked it near the bottom of their lists.
