Hi Everyone!

First of all I don't mind DO schools. When I consider these three schools, Midwestern is close to home and rotations are in chicago which I really like, but tuition is $59,000 this year, very expensive. Drexel and NYMC tuition is around $52,000. Drexel and NYMC also have associated hospitals on campus. I wasn't a big fan of the isolated Valhalla campus, but if the lower price and quality of school/rotations is worth it, I would select it.

I have WAITLISTS at Drexel and NYMC, and an acceptance at Midwestern. If I get off of EITHER the NYMC or Drexel wait list, how would you compare them to Midwestern given my opinions?

Thank you so much for your advice!!

I am definitely a pro-DO type of person. But here is my advice.
1) Go wherever is cheapest. All three are great schools, and all are in respectable cities where you will have great rotation options. So just go wherever is cheaper. This is real money we are talking about. I dont know if you have undergrad loans and stuff or had to start paying yet, but it is no joke. Debt is debt... It hurts when you see 1/5 of the money that you worked hard for being written to Mrs. Sallie Mae. We are talking 7K difference a year, thats 28K difference over 4 years, before interest. Thats a car. Or a very respectable down payment on a house. Or like 28,000 crunchy tacos at taco bell (you get the point).
2) If you get the chance, go MD. I know especially from midwestern people match really well. CCOM really stands shoulder to shoulder with the other schools in the area. I live in Wisconsin and there are a ton of CCOM grads up here and I have not met a single one with regrets. However, just for ease of the matching later on, MD is easier, just plain and simple. People will argue until the cows come home, but if we are just talking ease of finding a good residency, it is easier from MD, just because that is the way the system is set up currently. Even if you end up going FM or Peds or something not horribly competitive, you will still likely have an easier time from an MD school.

Otherwise, if the waitlists dont work out, congrats, you got into an awesome (arguably one of the best) DO schools in the country. Take it and run with it.
