Drexel vs. UTRGV

Hi everyone, I'm grateful to be able to have the option to pick between schools, but I'm feeling very confused and anxious about the choice. I had 3 TMDSAS II from Baylor, UTMB, and UTRGV. Ended up prematching and then matching to UTRGV and am on the Baylor/UTMB waitlists. I also had one other OOS II at Drexel and just received an acceptance from them earlier this week which I was honestly not expecting. For context, I'm from Houston and was hoping to stay in the area close to my support system, ideally getting off the WL for Baylor/UTMB, but I would have to pick between UTRGV/Drexel anyways by April 30th from my understanding. I'm also not set on any specialities, making this even more confusing lol.

Drexel
Pros

• better established compared to UTRGV and much more well-known, more prestigious if that matters
• philly seems like such a cool/big city, lots of opportunities, I went to undergrad in the east coast so I'm familiar

Cons

• the cost is the biggest factor, almost 500k COA
• move for clerkships I believe?

UTRGV
Pros

• closer to home/friends/bf, about 4.5 hours away
• small class size (50 ish people), tight-knit
• match list has pretty competitive residencies
• would be easier to match in texas since school is part of UT system?
• almost half the cost of Drexel at 260k COA

Cons

• Unsure about established rotations in 3rd year, have to ask more about it at campus preview later this month
• Overall a newer less established school
• Location is very suburban

I would appreciate any advice or if I missed anything here, thank you!

Drexel is not 240k better than Utrgv. I vote save money and stay close to home/friends and bf

The only advantage to UTRGV is its lower tuition.
Drexel outshines it in every other way
Accept Drexel tentatively and you can still stay on those other 2 TMDSAS waitlists until May 15 th

Best outcome would be an offer from Baylor or UTMB. Follow up & let us know how it all turns out!
