Couple months ago I was pulled over and arrested, charged with a DUI. Breathalyzer and blood draw were .09. I have not yet been convicted. At the end of this month, I will either accept the plea bargain of wet reckless (still a misdemeanor) or plead innocent to DUI based on the video/audio from that night (will see video/audio later this month).

I am applying to DO schools this cycle. I checked "no" to prior convictions at this point. I however have my license suspended (checked "yes" to license infraction) and must give a 500 character description of the event. I am wondering how best to approach this, especially since the case is still ongoing so there has not been time for "reflection on the incident and how the incident has impacted your life."

If I end up with a conviction I plan to immediately report it to AACOMAS.

Jeez. I have no idea how to advise you. Best to leave to one of the admins.

Sorry to hear that OP...

While the timeline is inconvenient, it also pretty much lays out what you'll need to do either way. If you had already been convicted, you would write a statement taking full ownership of your mistake (driving while somewhat impaired) and explaining what you learned and why you are now a better person.

While there are three theoretical outcomes (plea deal, found guilty, fount innocent) the only outcome that could possibly happen pre-application is a plea deal, which means admitting guilt to a lesser charge -- but for the same actions, which is what you're owning up to in any case. So own your actions and your lessons and state the 'as yet unresolved' nature of your legal situation. That's really all you can do --

Best of luck to you --

So best to be 100% open and state that I currently have a suspended driver's license (for another month), I was arrested, and currently have not been convicted but in the middle of the court case?

How likely is it that you will get off? I am asking because I think a wet and reckless will look better to an adcom because it means you weren't driving drunk. You were driving like an idiot while you had a few drinks. Big difference in this MADD era.

I wouldn't take any of our advices and contact an attorney instead. It's too much to risk taking advice from an anonymous forum

OP, there's somebody you need to talk to immediately and their job title rhymes with Sawyer.
