Dropping a class - Advice?

sooo im taking organic chem this quarter and i'm halfway through the quarter. I messed up my registration and was stuck with one of the hardest chem professors at my college. My first test did not go so well and the problem is, we only have 2 tests and a final. I am contemplating dropping the class and taking it with a better professor next quarter. Will the W on my transcript affect my chances on getting into schools?

You may have to explain why you have the W during your interview session. As long as you have a good excuse you should be fine. I definitely wouldn't say, "I had a hard teacher and wanted to take it with someone easier."

Meh, one W will not kill you. Just do not make a habit out of this. I have one, and it was NEVER mentioned in my interviews.

If he's such a hard professor, shouldn't everyone in the class be struggling? Is the class curved at all? It's natural to mess up on a test once in a while. Don't let it ruin your entire quarter. Just treat this as extra motivation to ace the next two exams.

First of all UCLADDS, Kudos on your profile. Secondly op, no School cares if at some point you drop a class. It will not affect you, it's one class! In addition, as it is ochem, you will have to take it eventually. If you get an A do you really think they will inquire?? My guess is no..

Like said previously, one W on your transcript wont kill you. However I wouldnt really go over 2 of them. Is it too late to PNC a class? That definately looks better than a W. Also, before you do why dont you ask for the grading scheme and see what a A/B etc is. You never know how bad your doing in chem/ochem/physics/bio/math until you meet the curves haha.

Last year I was getting 20/60 on my math tests. I was debating dropping the course. Then I found out that a 30/100 was a B.
Definately check the curves on the calss.
