Can someone please tell me any source (book/website) that lists the drugs that are important for the step 1 but tries not to be exhaustive ? For example, I know that "classic" drugs like flutamide, leuprolide, etc. are important but how about the "garden variety names" like oxandrolone or desogestrol?

Is there any way that when somebody asks about pharm for the boards on this forum that there screen goes black and they have to watch a musical about how all you need for pharm for step one is FA . Im not trying to start a forum fight it just seems like the pharm issue gets asked quite often and always gets the same answer.

Most of the stuff get asked time and time again...BRS vs RR, World vs Qbank, etc...I think it is because non-donors cant use boolean operators, plus people dont search anyway, but most importantly because there are SO many posts, the BRS vs RR thread will move to page 3 in like 2 days...I think that if we sticky a SDN poll on which books to use, or add it to the FAQ, that could help...or create a subforum JUST for 'Books to use for Step 1' so that the repeated questions and answers don't 'clog' up the main Step 1 page! 😀

(Granted I have asked a bunch of things that I have subsequently found elsewhere on the site too...sorry!)

my concern wasn't seeing the same thing over and over again. I have asked things and then found the answer on another post, it happens. I just think a SDN musical about pharmacology resources ie FA would be hilarious. they probably should sticky one of the better pharm discussions.

There should also be a sticky for "which flashcards should I get?". That one comes up too much.

And they should make you download the Taus method when signing on! 🙂

Funny thing is that resource rating thing at back of FA corresponds quite well with the things rated highly on this site...like world > kaplan > usmlerx...

First Aid is about the minimum you can get by with. Pharm makes up a decently large portion of the test.

I dont know for sure, but maybe you can photocopy the "Key facts for Key Drugs" section at the back of Katzung and Trever's Pharm review book...I'm not sure if that covers anything outside FA though, I'm just putting it out there...🙂
