I am curious to what the opinions of current medical students/residents are in regards to dual residencies. From my understanding, dual programs are excellent for students wishing to return to rural/underserved areas to practice. Whether it is family practice/internal medicine, internal medicine/pediatrics or family practice/emergency medicine, etc; the benefits to a rural physician seem obvious. The only suggestion I have heard, is if you decide to go the internal medicine/ pediatrics route, you may want to take as many OB/GYN electives as you can, otherwise, you maybe a little lacking in that area. What are your opinions? What have you heard?
