I am taking the plunge and applying early decision to Duke DPT this summer. I was wondering if anyone had any experience applying to duke? Anyone applying ED this year? I am really hoping to get in, but I'm worried that I will not stand out enough on paper. I keep busy, but my interests and hobbies do not fit easily into the application format. I spend most of my free time cooking, bodybuilding, running, hiking and other similar activities. Anyone else having this issue? Not sure how to express this in my app. Good luck everyone! Thanks!

I am applying Ed to Duke too!

I am applying early to Duke as well. I simply placed my activities under extracurricular, such as "Avid Runner" and "Frequent Gym Goer". I don't think PT programs will mind knowing a little side information about your day-to-day life. If anything, I imagine it makes the application stronger.

I'll be a first year student at duke this fall- PM if you have any questions

Hello! I am applying early decision to Duke too - I live in Hawaii so I have a lot of the same interests; hiking, running, surfing, free diving, etc. I put it in extracurriculars also - I think PT school are looking for a wide range of applicants for their programs. My undergrad degree is in International Relations but that doesn't make me worried! I am just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best : ) I will be submitting my application through PTCAS this Friday!

I'm applying ED too! Submitting my app tomorrow, super nervous!

Is anyone else checking their email 10 times a day? I know I probably will not hear until the beginning of Sept about an interview but I am just so nervous!!

You are not alone! I can't stop checking mine, even though I'm pretty sure we won't hear until at least next week. I even changed my email notification sound on my phone to a really loud ding noise so I won't miss anything hahahaha

I have been also! It's such a nerve racking experience. Apparently it's not just an interview though, which is nice. It's like a total tour and event through the campus.

I hope they tell us soon!!!

Anyone heard anything yet?!

I got one! They emailed me on Friday!

Email received saying there's so many applicants they'll let me know by next Friday. Scary there's so many applicants but a bit of relief that I'm not denied yet and I can stop constantly checking my email for today at least.

Heard back yesterday! Has anyone else received the additional email about the preliminary itinerary, directions, etc?

I have! They sent it a few days after I confirmed!

Okay, I confirmed yesterday so I'll try to be patient... I'm just a little excited!

Congrats you guys! I got invited to the interview too, it's gonna be exciting to meet everyone. Waiting on itinerary now.

Are you all ED applicants? I applied early, but not ED, and was just curious if I should be looking out for an email. I am pretty sure I have heard that they wait to do interviews for RD applicants until ED decisions come out, but wasn't positive.

I am pretty sure that they wait until after. You could shoot an email to admissions and they'll let you know. They have been really helpful with all of my questions [emoji106]

I think they wait too. In one of the emails they called it the "Early Decision Interview Date"

I was talking to one of the DPTs that teach at my campus the other day. He said that the interview process is mostly just a formal introduction to the program and that they have made up their minds, for the most part, about us being accepted into the program. I'm trying not to get too excited about it, because its not official yet, but our odds are pretty great. According to the Duke DPT website, we at the very least have an 84% chance now. I'd bet on those odds.

I hope we have time to introduce each other during the interview day, considering we may be classmates.

Has anyone received an email stating that they did not receive an early decision interview/were deferred to regular decision? I am still waiting for an email and it is killing me!

When I spoke to them last week, they said the decisions will be made by the end of this week (i.e. today), so I assume that everyone will be notified by today. Best of luck!

I am so nervous! It is 4pm and I still haven't heard anything!! I can't believe you all started hearing back already, so awesome! Congrats on getting an interview!! Wish me luck!!

Didn't get an interview, now I have to apply to more schools ugh

Do you have any idea of why they would reject someone after an ED interview? The odds are pretty good but almost 1/5 don't get accepted... Since it seems like their interviews are so selective, I wonder what they're specifically looking for at them.

I'm hoping they've pretty much made up their mind when handing out interviews and the interview is just to make sure we're not weirdos lol. Either way, I'm super stoked to meet everyone and it sounds like it's going to be a pretty chill day!

It's like Zac said, I think it's just to make sure we aren't strange or sociopaths. Most schools have cut the interview process all together, but Duke has the resources to have them still. I think the interviews are more of an early orientation.

It was great meeting everyone this weekend! I hope everyone's interview went well! I'm getting nervous! I hope we all hear soon!

Great meeting everyone as well. Good luck and please post as soon as you find out - can't wait any longer!

I've been checking my email non-stop all day, I hope they tell us soon too!

I'm expecting Wednesday at the earliest, but I can't help but keep checking anyway!

I don't know for sure but one student said that last year, some heard back on the following Monday and Tuesday...

I guess I double up on my email checking...

If you guys don't mind sharing, what were your stats? Like GPA, hourse, GRE etc.

I was expecting Wednesday at the earliest too, but I'm still checking constantly. It's so nerve racking, I'm lucky I'm even sleeping at night still haha. Good luck, let us know if anyone hears back.

I have a 3.7 gpa, 230 hours at 5 different sites combined, 302 on gre, and listed a lot of extracuriculars. Make a 4.0 on my last three semesters too, that might've helped.

Almost the same story as above but I have about 750 hours (internship and aide work). 3.9 GPA since my transfer in the middle of undergrad. Only a few extracurriculars

3.8 pre-req GPA, 3.28 cum. GPA, 4.0 grad GPA. About 250 hours in 5 locations and a lot of volunteer work. 309 combined GRE and 4.5 writing. I feel like my stats are average but my graduate degree is what helps me. It is very nerve-racking!!

Nobody heard again today? The wait is killing me!

Nothing yet, I'm going out of my mind waiting! I can't believe how nervous I am!

I literally checked my email every 5 minutes whenever I wasn't actively doing anything today. I'm going crazy.

Hopefully we hear by tomorrow.

Don't you think they will call? I know they've been in contact with us through email so far, but it looks like for Duke DPT early decision in 2011 people were called with a final decision.

Ha, we're all so resourceful here, I noticed that they called years ago too. But all the contact I've had with them is email and it's always in the afternoon. So, I'm guessing they've switched to emails now.

I overheard someone say that the chief calls if he is in town, but they said he's in Nepal. I'm not sure if they will have someone else call or if they'll just email us
