Duke... see what they can do for you scholarship wise to try to get the COA to match

-No research year, would have to take an extra year to get an MPH

This by itself would cost a lot and likely push you over the edge to go to Duke imo

If costs are similar, I would go to Duke. You could get your MPH during that research year.

I’m assuming Duke makes you pay tuition during your research year. Do they charge MPH tuition in addition to M3 tuition? I’d look into if you’d have to pay for M3 and your MPH simultaneously!

At Duke you'll have to pay for the 3rd year and the MPH. So assuming cost was equal, the real difference would be that it would take 5 years to get the MD/MPH at UNC vs. 4 years at Duke.

Very anecdotal but I've heard there to be a lot of gunner-y/competitive people at UNC (but n=1 and I'm not a current student ofc). Since there's no guarantee that UNC will have any less competitive a vibe than Duke, I would choose higher rank/more national recognition and go to Duke (if the cost is similar).
