Dwight is a pharmacy manager and Ryan is the staff pharmacist. Every so often Ryan would call in sick so Dwight would have to pick up his shifts. It's always food poisoning like msg allergies and peanut allergies, car troubles, plantar warts, granddad fought in WWII. Upper management M Scott not helpful. What can Dwight about it?

Dwight can fire Ryan

Maybe Ryan needs to take a part time position or reduce 1 day every pay period. Is he that sickly or just want a day off out of no where? I don’t bring my phone with me when I go to bed, maybe just ignore him and he may end up call the DM for coverage. If he’s at work and text you to cover the rest shift, just don’t answer until 1 hour prior to closing. If he really sick though, I would have some sympathy and come in.

Dwight the pharmacy manager needs to step up and manage his pharmacy staff.

I remember using the plantar wart excuse once. That got me a solid 2 days off.. I thought I was the only one who thought of that.

I came up with an elaborate “minor medical procedure needed” story and everything.

Dwight can set Ryan up with the worst techs, cut his hours or his help hours, and generally harass him with microaggressions within the limits of constructive termination if upper management doesn't care (and if they really are MIA, then past the limit of constructive termination and dare him to try to go up, it goes both ways). Dwight can forcefully write him up for any errors and KPI him into a mistake, hopefully one that pisses off the customer but doesn't hurt or kill anyone. Dwight doesn't have to accept sick out without a physician note either in most companies and force him to go through the FMLA process with his supposed MSG and peanut allergies because these are avoidable. Basically, set up a hostile work environment for Ryan to make him exhaust his vacation, then put the FMLA squeeze in.

When upper management is really out to lunch, take the opportunity presented to clean house. In fact, forcing Ryan into an error and calling the State Board on him is a time-honored story from the old days when Ryan just isn't hacking it.

I didn't need a specific excuse to call in sick. I just told them I'm not feeling so good. Sometimes, I'll take 5 days off doing that lol. Great to be cool to your scheduler.

I thought floaters can't get enough hours why are you always covering?
