So the original plan was for me to apply to UT and UofH pharmacy schools. The deadline for UT is November 1, and the deadline for UH is in January.
I recently learned that for UH one LOR must be from a pharmacist. Unfortunately (if you guys have seen my many posts detailing my concern regarding this...) I haven't had a chance to volunteer or work in a pharmacy at all, thus I know NO pharmacists. I planned on applying for volunteering next month or next semester, so IF I get to know a pharmacist then, then I could ask him for a LOR. However, this is after the UT deadline...
So I was wondering if it was possible that I could e-submit my app to UT by Nov. 1st, and then later on get another reference that's required for UH and then e-submit to UH by January. I looked on the pharmcas FAQ, and I don't think we can add references after submitting.
I really dislike this system. So basically, the UH application isn't due by January - all your apps are due by the earliest deadline of the schools for which you are applying... which is dumb. Unless I'm misunderstanding something?
This is making me anxious, because applying out-of-state isn't an option for me (too costly, and I don't wanna move far away), and I'm not interested in the other pharm schools in Texas. I really wanna stay at UT (which is where I'm at now), and anything else to me is just a step down. I don't know if I'll even be able to apply to UH because of the whole LOR from a pharmacist thing. So should I just not even apply? But then I'd be putting all my eggs in one basket, and that's just an enormous amount of pressure. My GPA, PCAT, and extracurriculars are all great, my only concerns are lack of experience and maybe the LORs (but I can't know for sure... lol). If I had pharm experience, I'd be pretty confident I'd get accepted to UT, but unfortunately I don't, and I'm really nervous.
