What is the earliest you were contacted about a position in psychiatry by a recruiter or someone else? I have heard some residents talk about being courted in PGY1?!?!

You're better off contacting institutions directly and make your own inquiries. You can save yourself a lot of money.

I can assure you they are not being "courted" early. They are merely added to a listserv advertising job postings after they troll the programs website for emails.
