Am I allowed to apply to two early assurance medical programs, like Upstate suny and Mount Sinai (Flexmed)?
I know at least Upstate is binding, and that it would be problematic if I apply to other med schools after the acceptance. But I don't know if I will be accepted, and I don't want to rely on one school to accept me.

I'm guessing schools know if I apply to regular admissions via AMCAS, but what about early admissions?
Has this happened before? Will the schools know, and am I just throwing away whatever chance I have out the window.

I think you are combining aspects of EAP and EDP.

Like @efle said, you apply EAP at least a year or two before you'd apply for a normal cycle. So, you'd know for sure if you were accepted and wouldn't be throwing away a chance. If they don't accept you, you apply normally during your senior (or gap) year.

You'd have to check with individual programs to see if EAP is binding, though. Some schools don't make you commit until senior year.

Ah. I meant applying to two EAP. I'm not worried about regular applications just yet.
Thanks for the input tho.

Flexmed is neither EAP or EDP....those are all part of the "traditional" cycle through AMCAS and such. You apply to Flexmed as a soph and they let you know before you even start junior year.

The general consensus is that you can apply to as many of these as you want, given that they don't really occur at exactly the same time. Also Sinai has like a 2% acceptance rate so it's not like applying in of itself means a whole lot.

Edit: Wait, after rereading your post I'm confused...if you're asking if you can apply to AMCAS after potentially getting into an early program, the answer is no. For Sinai as soon as you sit for the MCAT you're out.
