Hello,

1) I was hoping that the ADEA Official Guide would include which types of letters each school requires (ex: 1 science, 1 dentist, 1 nonscience vs. 2 science, 1 dentist, etc). For some reason it doesn't (why????) - is there an easier way to find this information out without having to visit all 60+ dental schools' individual websites?

2) Additionally-how many LORs does AADSAS accept? Does each letter in AADSAS get sent to each school we apply to, or can we pick and choose which ones go where? If we need to send extra letters to certain schools that AADSAS can't accommodate, would they just be sent separately through Interfolio?

Thanks for your assistance!

1) No, it sucks. Most schools require 2 science, 1 non science, 1 dentist. Or you get 1 committee letter. Some schools require 3 reqs, others 4, some have to be from a bio professor, some can be from a friend. It's lame, but you have to go to each's website.

2) Four. All schools, I think, get all four reqs. You can't choose which go where. If you want to send more, send them directly to the school. If you do choose to send extra LORs, find out if they'll actually read 'em not throw them in the trash. Not sure about Interfolio, never used it.

Thanks for the reply. What I'm confused about is if each school has their own requirements, how does the AADSAS protocol of sending all 4 it receives to each school make sense? Won't some schools possibly be receiving letters they don't want/require, and some schools won't be getting all that they need requiring a lot of additional sending? Seems super complicated.. or am I just missing something?

lol, i just applied and I'm still wondering the same question. all i can tell you is that you can't choose which schools get which LOR - all 4 of my LORs went to every school I applied. maybe others can help...

Most all schools seem to accept or be fine with the 2 science, 1 non science, 1 dentist. I'm sure if any of the schools are interested in you they will let you know if you need another letter, but for me that wasn't ever the case. Best of luck and I'll see you when you EASILY(Armo voice) get into Michigan next year.
