Easy and funny review of basic anatomy before starting med school

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just so we're clear: the guy posting the thread complaining about all the neurotic premeds is the same one posting about a good book to review anatomy before starting med school.

You deserve a medal for noticing this. LOL.

While a great book, there is really zero reason anyone should be reading that to prepare for medical school.

Oh, I completely agree. I work in the ER and one of the docs is a jerk about her EKGs. She says we should know what she writes, but she has, well, a doctor's writing and I can never read it. I'm pretty much reading Dubin's out of spite. 😛

One of the docs at the ED where I work lends Dubin's to all the new scribes as assigned reading. At least we're all nerdy premeds and love it.

what are some other fun/informative/review books to read before med school? i get bored at work and miss learning science!

The book in the link below will teach you with humor. It has been around for more than 30 years. Good prep prior to starting

I went through this before med school and it was absolutely of no value for med school whatsoever. Don't try to pre-study for med school. it will be a big Waste of time. You have no clue what will be valuable or emphasized. You can use your time more wisely doing almost anything else.

Basic anatomy? I don't think "basic anatomy" will be of much help in medical school. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are. But pre-studying, as other people have said, is still a gigantic waste of time.

Even if you are somebody that has a lot of anxiety and thinks that prestudying would be soothing, please don't do it.

Use your summer before medical school to spend time with family / loved ones; to go on an adventure; to do your favorite things in life; to catch up on all of the things you missed out on in college; to veg out completely etc. Because you won't be able to do those things as much as you would like / if at all once you go to medical school. Besides being utterly useless in preparing you for school, prestudying has an EXTRAORDINARY opportunity cost.

Learn spanish. Sleep. Go on a vacation. Sleep. Go play a video game. Sleep.

You can't prepare for med school. Don't try.
