EC based question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not to knock you for having so many ECs, but I do think you should trim it back. What are the ECs that most make you unique as an applicant? If an EC is something at least 10 other pre-meds you know could be putting on their app, I wouldn't bother. Really, what are you most proud of? What did you work hardest to accomplish? What did you really play the biggest role in?

The risks of having too many ECs are 1) the important ones that would otherwise make you stand out get lost in the shuffle, 2) it sounds like too much for one human to have actually done, so they'll think you're possibly exaggerating your involvement, and 3) it might look like you're trying to pad your app with every minor activity you've ever spent 10 minutes on. These are not the way you want to present yourself to an adcom, particularly given your middle-of-the-road GPA.

The service frat, student advisory board, AED, and dean's list (especially this - they're already going to see your grades) don't seem to make you stand out as an individual. When I was applying, I would say 90% of the pre-meds I knew listed some combination of these things. If you had nothing else, OK - but that's not your problem! Maybe also leave out the part about how much you cycle each week -- cycling is already on the list in other contexts.

Seriously, pare it down. Quality over quantity.
