Hi Friends
I did my B.D.S from India (4 years + 1 year rotating internship). Planning to take Step 1
in July 2002. Applied for ECE credential evaluations with all the 4 years certificates,
though I completed internship I have not received the certificate yet. Got a reply
from ECE, saying that I have to submit the internship certificate. Is it really a
must to take step 1. Has anybody faced similar problem.
Please advice time is running out

If "Step 1" is the National Board Dental Examination, YES, it is a must to have your ECE done to become eligible to take the test.

WHat you can do is contact the institution responsible for your residency/internship and request a letter or other type of document while your certificate is not ready.
