Hello there! I graduated two years ago with a Neuroscience major and Psychology minor B.A. cum laude at a university in Boston. I am now trying to take some pre-pharmacy pre-requisites that have classroom, online, and hybrid (both classroom and online) versions. They are the basic Microeconomics and Macroeconomics classes that many pharm schools require. Do they prefer the classroom or online version more? Also, for the same course, do they prefer a 3-credit class from a state university or a 4-credit class from a private university?

Finally, do pharm school generally prefer Micro- or Macro- economics? For those of you who have taken either or both classes, which one is easier/more interesting?

Thank you so much in advance for your help!!

I doubt the school cares which type unless they specify. I took Macro totally on-line - the only time we went to school was to take the final in a proctored computer lab. We also had to write a major paper in addition to the tests. I really liked taking it on-line - as long as you are the type of person who will keep up with the assigned readings, etc. I think it works well. I particularly liked having the flexibility to do the course whenever I wanted, and not having to drive to campus at a specific time.

I am still working on my pre-reqs, however, I took Macro online and this semester I am taking Micro online as well. I started out taking Micro last semester and then realized that Macro would be ok, but, this year the school I want to go to changed the requirement. I think Macro is easier to understand, for myself at least.

You'll have to look at the requirements of each school individually (yes, that means doing the research and going to each website and looking at each of the requirements). Some schools are very particular, and will only accept either microeconomics or macroeconomics. Some schools don't care which one you take.

Most schools won't know (or care) whether you take the course online or not, or at a public or private university. As long as the course fulfills its requirements, they won't care. If the websites they have still aren't clear, you'll have to call their student affairs office and double check before you waste your time taking more classes than necessary.
