Last year I was hearing that ECU and Chapel Hill were planning to increase their class size in the 2009 or 2010 year, has anyone heard whether this is still going to happen?

I heard UNC was going to go from 163 to 210, and ECU was going to go from 72 to 110.

It's not going to happen next year at UNC for sure, because of the economy all of the budgets have been cut. At my interview for ECU they said the class size might be increased to 80 from 72... but with the economy I wouldn't hold your breath. I work at UNC med school by the way.

Well I'm a Duke fan! haha. More than that though, I've worked at both the UNC and Duke basketball camps.

Thanks for the update gborogirl17, that is to bad to hear though.

I dont see this happening within the next few years....some of the clinical sites arent able to accomodate the students yet....atleast thats what ive been told.

I am pretty sure I read an article about this last year, although I can't find it right now. I also heard mention of this when I interviewed at UNC last year. They said they were basically going to double the class size and send half of MS3/MS4s to Charlotte and half would stay in CH. I think ECU also said they would double their class size, but I'm not sure where they were going to set up the extra clinical rotations.

This was before the economic downturn, so I doubt it will happen soon. Maybe in 2-3 years or so.
