Drexel
Pros
  • Urban/city rotations
  • P/F classes
  • Established school
  • Match list - I want to work in a urban area and the matchlist aligns with my significant other and my own desires.
  • Philly is nice, strong social scene, closer to NYC (where my extended family is)

Cons
  • Cost - Private school and high COA in Philly. Would cost over $140k more than other option.
  • Distance from immediate family - My family and significant other are in NC
  • Super large class size
  • Pre-clinical building isn't connected or near the hospital
  • MBA is an additional year, requires GRE

Brody (ECU)
Pros
  • Cost - one of the if not the lowest tuition and COA in MD scene. ($140k less than Drexel on tuition alone)
  • Location - Close to my immediate family and significant other, also I grew up and went to school in the state so I know the area well
  • Medical campus is nice - next to dental, PA, nursing schools. Has it's own student union/gym.
  • Directly connected to a large hospital complex
  • Small class size (82ish)
  • MBA option is available inbetween 2nd/3rd years (doesn't require GRE)

Cons
  • Rural location - Greenville is not the greatest of cities
  • Match list - A few of the locations I deem desirable but the majority stay in-state
  • Graded/ranked and a few mandatory classes

Summary: I'm a very strong lean to ECU. The cost difference is hard to overlook ontop of being closer to my support systems. Drexel's location and match list are much more appealing but I also know it's up to my own ability to succeed on STEP in order to get the more desirable match locations.

I think you know what you're going to choose. I know if I were you I'd choose Brody. Being close to family & SO is hard to pass up.

Good luck!
