Drexel
Pros
Cons
Brody (ECU)
Pros
Cons
Summary: I'm a very strong lean to ECU. The cost difference is hard to overlook ontop of being closer to my support systems. Drexel's location and match list are much more appealing but I also know it's up to my own ability to succeed on STEP in order to get the more desirable match locations.
Pros
- Urban/city rotations
- P/F classes
- Established school
- Match list - I want to work in a urban area and the matchlist aligns with my significant other and my own desires.
- Philly is nice, strong social scene, closer to NYC (where my extended family is)
Cons
- Cost - Private school and high COA in Philly. Would cost over $140k more than other option.
- Distance from immediate family - My family and significant other are in NC
- Super large class size
- Pre-clinical building isn't connected or near the hospital
- MBA is an additional year, requires GRE
Brody (ECU)
Pros
- Cost - one of the if not the lowest tuition and COA in MD scene. ($140k less than Drexel on tuition alone)
- Location - Close to my immediate family and significant other, also I grew up and went to school in the state so I know the area well
- Medical campus is nice - next to dental, PA, nursing schools. Has it's own student union/gym.
- Directly connected to a large hospital complex
- Small class size (82ish)
- MBA option is available inbetween 2nd/3rd years (doesn't require GRE)
Cons
- Rural location - Greenville is not the greatest of cities
- Match list - A few of the locations I deem desirable but the majority stay in-state
- Graded/ranked and a few mandatory classes
Summary: I'm a very strong lean to ECU. The cost difference is hard to overlook ontop of being closer to my support systems. Drexel's location and match list are much more appealing but I also know it's up to my own ability to succeed on STEP in order to get the more desirable match locations.
