So I just received an invite to ECU in Greenville, NC. I figured this late in the season, all invites had been sent out, and now I'm not sure what to do. I've been on several interviews already and have just a couple left on schedule, and would be happy to be done just before the holidays. I was wondering those who may have interviewed here could give me some insight into the program and the area as to possibly help me decide if I should go...most dates left to interview are in mid-late Jan.
Thanks!

It's always better to over-interview than under-interview. I would think that if there is any chance that this place works for you (geographically, for example) you should keep the appointment. You have to ask yourself - which is worse, going on one more interview or scrambling... that is really what it boils down to...

One of my friends is a path resident at ECU. It is a small program, but he seems to be pretty happy there. He just accepted a cytopath fellowship in Virginia, so the potential to go other places afterwards exists. PM me your email address and I can put you in touch with him if you like.

Greenville NC is a small city in the middle of farmland (cotton and tobacco). It has most of the typical amenities, although I hear shopping opportunities are limited (but Raleigh is only 1.5 hours away). Tiny airport, but, again, Raleigh is close. People seem friendly there, and I hear it is a nice place to raise kids. Nothing too special about it, and probably not much night life or high culture, but from a recent visit there, it seemed like it would be an ok place to live.

Hope that helps.

Thank you both for your input. I have scheduled the interview for late January and using the next several weeks to go through my notes of the places I have interviewed. I figure one more interview won't hurt, and really to get a feel for it myself. I know that Greenville is a small city, which I'm ok with, and it is geographically pleasing to me. I'll let you know how it all goes 🙂
