Does anybody have a pros/cons doc that includes Oregon? It's such a small program that it's hard to find student perspectives. Honestly I really prefer Edinburgh's program (more access to exotics, strong externship program, Roslin institute, generally more resources as it is a larger program, plus I really want to live abroad....). If WSU offers me a spot before Edinburgh's deadline I'll seriously consider it but I just need someone to tell me to tell Oregon no...

I’d say weigh all your options! How much is Oregon vs Edinburgh? Where are you on the WSU waitlist? Edinburgh is an amazing school with incredible resources but do you want to study abroad vs staying stateside? What are you goals with practicing/interests after school? I’d say if living abroad is a goal for you then Edinburgh is a great place and opportunity to do that! Plus compare cost of living to Edinburgh vs Oregon!

Go to the cheapest school. You can set up amazing externships regardless of which school you attend, and you can specifically do externships at exotics clinics if that is an interest of yours.

If the cheapest option ends up being abroad (don't forget to include travel over four years, visas/fees/whatever, etc.), then so be it!

At the current exchange rate Oregon and Edinburgh are about the same including visa/travel costs, since Oregon doesn't allow you to establish residency. Cost of living is about the same in both places afaik. I do have a bit of a skewed view because I work with a vet who recently graduated from Midwestern and compared to her debt anything looks good 🙃

Thanks for the input! I'm in the 3rd tier of the WSU waitlist so idk if hopes are high for that one... I saw you in the WSU thread and I'd be really interested to know when/if tier 2 gets pulled, bc there still is some time before the Edinburgh deadline! I'm mainly interested in keeping my options as open as possible. I currently tech at a mixed practice and love it so my main goal is to get as much experience with a variety of species as possible. I wish cost of living and tuition were easier to compare but the exchange rate is pretty up in the air right now so it's hard to know for sure. WSU would be the cheapest option BY FAR but I have no guarantee there
