Hi everyone I have a question, please give me your opinion on this.

So last fall I had a pretty stressful semester because of Hurricane Sandy which caused me to not do as well in an important bio class.

I live very close to the beach ( Near Coney Island in Brooklyn) and because of the storm we lost everything that was in the first floor of the house, we lost our car, everything in the garage and the boiler and heating system had to be replaced. Basically, my family and I lost A LOT of money/possessions and it was just a stressful experience that made it hard for me to concentrate on studies when my home was in shambles. Not knowing if FEMA was going to help us out. ( Also we support ourselves here and also our family back home in India so I was stressed about not being able to send money back home because of this but I wont put this much detail in the app).

I KNOW that in comparison to other people that were affected by the storm I WAS LUCKY and I thank God everyday for our lives, but it still was something that adversely affected me that semester. Do you think it is appropriate to mention something like this? I don't want to seem like I'm whining but I feel the need to explain doing bad in that bio class.

Thanks a lot for your help.

any thoughts anyone? 🙂

If you truly think it affected your education, I would put it down. You know the best whether it affected you or not.

This is one of the rare occurrences I think it counts. No one can prevent natural disasters. I do think you should put it in there.

okay, thanks everyone for the help! I'll mention it on my app.
