Is anyone else having trouble with EFDO uploading documents. My transcript/deans letter were submitted 10 days ago and still aren't uploaded by EFDO. My LORs have been submitted 5-7 days ago and also don't show up as uploaded. I've called them and they say they're still reviewing them. Is it just me or are others having issues?

I am assuming "submitted" as in uploaded online. They are not accepting any paper submissions AFAIK this cycle.

Yes, submitted as in uploaded to EFDO my letter writers and med school, however nothing has been uploaded to the ERAS post office. Just wondering if other people are experiencing delays too? Apparently last year went very smoothly.

I have the same problem. One of my letters was uploaded on Wednesday and it still doesn't show up in my post-office.
It's terrible that ERAS takes so much time to "process" LoRs, as most of my letter writers haven't even uploaded letters yet.

You'll survive.

I'm applying for a pulm/cc fellowship this year. Only one of my 4 LORs are uploaded so far. When I go to try to apply to programs, it only lets me click to apply the LOR that has been uploaded and not the others. Then it says that once you apply to a program you cannot change the LORs that you've applied to them. This wasn't the way things worked last year (I applied to fellowship last year as well). I don't want to risk not being able to apply letters to a program by applying now, but I don't want to delay my application by waiting until ERAS uploads all of my LORs. Any advice?

Also, why does it take days-weeks to upload a file that is actually already scanned and uploaded by the letter writer? This makes no sense to me.

I'm in a similar situation (as I believe most of us are). ERAS and this new-fangled EFDO are making this application cycle much more stressful and difficult than it needs to be. I think I'm going to have to wait it out until all of my LORs are processed and made available, because I'm afraid of the exact scenario you are describing where I won't be able to assign LORs after submitting my application.

Exactly. The messed up part is that the programs and PDs have absolutely no idea about this situation with ERAS/EFDO delays and in the end have enough applicants to look at. It only causes the applicant constant headaches and nervousness along with a multitude of calls to LOR writers and EFDO. I guess all I can do is wait and hope the letters get uploaded soon. It seems to me that EFDO is just trying to make their job easier by having us assign letters that are already in the system, but not really thinking about things from the applicant's point of view. When exactly are we supposed to get these letters in? ERAS opened up on June 18 and didn't work for the first week or so, so this brings us to late June. Even if your LOR was already written (good luck with this around july with busy attendings and PDs) and sent in, it still may not be uploaded by now. Then have the programs start uploading on July 15th. It's all just very frustrating.

Just breath it will be fine.

This system works despite the problems in the beginning. It is taking them 2 days to upload letters once they are submitted. They go through and make sure that the letter writer didn't say I recommend him for Geriatrics instead of Cardiology.

If your letter writers are delayed then you need to have back up plans with other letters. At this stage of the game you have been through ERAS 2 times... Med school, residency and now fellowship and you know to stop panicking. Things work out.

On average, how long is it taking your letters to be shown on ERAS from the time the letter writer uploads it?

You CAN add letters after submitting to programs. I did it today (submitted to programs with no letters, then added one in afterwards).

One was uploaded Wednesday and still isn't there. My first was up same day; the next took six days to get approved.

Thanks for the update Niviancer. That's great to hear.

If we submit a letter to a program that has already downloaded our application, should we email them to let them know? I'm not sure how the process works, if they automatically download it or what. Thanks!

No. Any time they log on to ERAS, anything new that has been uploaded to their program (a whole new app, newly released Step scores or LORs for an app they've already downloaded, etc) is shown and will be dl'd automatically. If it's been a few weeks and they don't appear to have logged on dl'd anything, maybe then send an email. But for right now, try not to bug the PCs...they're pretty damn busy (and many PCs in smaller fellowship programs have either more than one job or may be the PC for more than 1 specialty which only makes their jobs that much more fun).

5+ days for uploads for me.. I have a few letters 7/10 uploaded still not showing up

It took 7 business days for one of my LORs to clear!! while the other cleared after two days...
