Hey guys,

I narrowed down my choices to 2 schools that I need to answer in 5 days. The main issue is how big the prestige difference is between the 2 schools.

Loyola
pros

  • Chicago: my girlfriend lives there (huge deal) and I really don't want to lose her
  • Facilities are considerably nicer than Einstein's
  • Atmosphere and people seem very friendly
  • Weight room and gym are top-notch
  • Liked it a lot when I visited
cons
  • prestige is not as high as Einstein's
  • Need a car to get around
  • More expensive housing
  • School and housing would be in suburbs outside of Chicago and not really inside it
  • Not many friends there outside of gf

Einstein
pros

  • I'm from NJ, family living around that area; I have a lot of friends in NY (manhattan tho)
  • Residency location: not sure exactly where I want to be but I'd be happy on the east coast (NY would be amazing for residency, as are many other cities, vs. just Chicago in the midwest)
  • Prestige is greater
  • P/F grading
  • Subsidized housing is cheap and nice
  • Lots of holidays (so I can maybe see my gf pretty often over breaks)
cons
  • Facilities aren't the greatest-->seem more dilapidated than Loyola's
  • Gym/weight room is seriously lacking compared to Loyola's
  • Living in The Bronx, and not Manhattan
  • Wouldn't be with my gf, guarantees long distance for 2-4 years (she's from the area so her moving is definitely possible)
My gf and I have been together for about a year long distance and we thought that we would be together finally, but me getting off the waitlist was unexpected and we both feel lost right now. How viable is it to do long distance in school? How often can I take weekends off from studying and visit her?

Thanks in advance guys I really appreciate any and all advice

If you want to match in NY/NJ going to Einstein will make it hilariously easier to match there vs Loyola. Plus, it's better ranked and better research AND it has a great reputation in the exact place where you want to be.

Loyola.
