I just had an easy question.
With all that dense information, are we really expected to know the different poly and monosachs and the different kinda glycosidic linkages between them?
 
No, I really don't think so. I think it is just there to give you a heads-up about things that might be given in a passage. I wouldn't worry about dedicating too much of that information to memory. I think it would probably suffice to know some things about glucose, but as far as specifics of disaccharides, I wouldn't worry.

I haven't written the MCAT yet, but I have not seen anything like this on a practice test without information from a passage.
 
I would just understand what the different glycosidic linkages are and how they are named... I wouldnt worry to much about specifics.
 
I believe it's there so you don't get surprised if you see it in a passage. If anything I'd know how to determine if a linkage is alpha or beta from a diagram.
