Hi everyone,
I was wondering if some of you who have been through the process could enlighten some of us third years with your elective experience. Here are the questions I was hoping you could anwer. Some advice from people who didn't get 240s on their boards and AOA and all Honors would be preferred.
1) What are SPECIFIC programs where it helps to rotate? (by that I mean, where have people rotated and got interviews in places they might not have gotten them from with their creds alone - was it meaningful or courtesy?)
2) How did it help? (courtesy interview, recommendations, phone calls)
3) When is the best time to do it? (with regards to apps/ interviews/ match - should I do it early in 4th year and put off my sub-I or wait till after?)
4) Are programs generally pretty cool about leaving for an interview?
5) Would it be worth my while to go to MIR (I'm from STL) and work my ass off for a rec from a star or rotate someplace I might actually get in?
I know these are a lot of questions but I would really appreciate your input, even if you could only answer a single question, that would be great. Realistically I won't be able to do more than 2 away electives before december, if not one so I really need to pick wisely
Thanks
