In the process of choosing my one and only elective (damn prelim year). Leaning towards radiology. Any suggestions of what area to focus on? Or any other elective suggestions? Thanks

If you only have one elective, I recommend something that gives you a lot of free time. You're probably going to be tired and in need of a break. The general rule is to max out rads and path options first.

Oh no doubt wasn't considering head and neck service haha. Any radiology division that would be helpful?

The one that lets you not come in 🙂 That was my best rotation of intern year. You just annoy the radiologists anyway.

Take the Radiology elective. You can go to the read out sessions and actually learn something, yet still have time to study for Step 3 and pass the exam at the end of the month.

Agreed with Radiology, then Path. I took a Rads elective really early in intern year. I learned a lot of important things, but had the flexibility of coming and going and working with whom I pleased. You can opt to spend a couple of hours with the MRI and body CT guys on the first day, then breast radiographers and nuc-meds on the next. Also, use that month to finish Step 3. Finishing and passing this test in month 2 of my intern year was a nice way to round out the Steps...
