electives during interview season

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Anything inpatient (esp. w/ call) is generally not a good idea. Other than that, pretty much everyone understands where your priorities lie. If you're having difficulty getting time off to interview, I'd talk to your dean's office... they are much more concerned with getting you matched than "learning opportunities" during an elective rotation and should be able to help.

That being said... path, derm, rads, gas, ER, allergy are the popular ones at my institution for dec/jan.

i have my core med-sub-i in november. i sure hope it is not going to be a problem to miss days. i think interviews trump this rotation--especially since i do not want to do IM or get a residency at that hospital.

Oh I will be paying attention to this thread. I need to fill another 2 weeks of my 4th year schedule... it'll be some random rotation where I'll need to show up on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve on Fridays... 😡... but it's the only way I can keep some crucial interview weeks open.

Then again, I haven't even submitted ERAS yet. I need to get crackin'.
