If you have a molecule of NaOH and you are trying to figure out electron configurations (1s2, 2s2, 2p6 etc) Do you add an extra electron for Na because it now has a bonding electron or because its ionic wiill it lose that electron to OH in which case when figuring out OH's configuration do you add an eletron?
