I got a question from my Kaplan review about which of following metals would make the most ionic salt with I-: Li+, Na+, K+, or Cs+.

I chose Li+ since Li+ and I- are the farthest apart, relative to these choices, on the periodic table. However, the text said it was Cs+ because Cs+ is the most electropositive metal. By that logic, the ionic strength isn't about differences in electronegativity?

It is. Cs is less electronegative than Li. Electronegativity decreases as you move to the left and down on the periodic table.
