Besides your phones, does anyone here have a device they like to keep on them in the OR? Obviously, only used at quiet times and not allowing for a significant distraction.

Thinking iPad vs iPad mini vs laptop etc. Wanted something portable and not engrossing. Enough to day trade and maybe browse WSJ once in a while.

No and no. Daytrading and other nonclinical activities will reflect very badly on you during a deposition.

Anything else useful that you typically keep in your OR bag? Been thinking of getting a dedicated bag too recently.
Folder for documents, stethoscope, butterfly US, a book, peripheral nerve stimulator, mini stapler, protein bars, vasopressors, poems, and Sharpie are my usual things

EDIT: I mean pens... to write the heartfelt poems

On a med school anesthesia rotation one of the docs I was following was day trading like crazy and even bought a plane while I was sitting in a case with him. It was very odd.

I’d bring my laptop to the room for zoom meetings or conferences for medical staff

I’d notify the surgeon too

Put it on mute

I have a MacBook pro with the keyboard cover thing, but I don’t take it in the OR. It’s pretty powerful.
I’m really paranoid about doing stuff like that in the OR. Bad things happen, and when someone can show you weren’t paying attention, it’s now your fault, at least that’s what they’ll argue, complete with your posts, texts, trading log, etc. even if it’s not.
