I'm curious about the political environment in dschool. My brother, a 3rd year, suggests that his school is predominantly Christian conservatives. I have also read a few sdn posts that suggest the same. What do you think? I would imagine that some schools like UCSF are more liberal.

do a search, there was a long thread with tons of discusstion on this topic, a month or two ago

I found a thread from 1.5 years ago... But nothing recent.

l think a large percentage of dental school students are conservative. But that's just my guess, and I think it depends where you go. Either way I'm covering my laptop in Obama stickers.

That is funny, Obama for your mama. My little bro is a D3 and is a gun-toting conservative. I find it curious that there are more conservatives, and not 50/50.

People who make money like to keep it.

Understandable. I have heard it said that conservatives are far mor philanthropic than their more liberal counterparts.

Uh oh....:nono:
We know how these convos all end...

Perhaps some are libertarian.

I cant see how many in the east coast schools are christian conservative.

Pro free market Capitalism, personal liberty, limited government Libertarian (aka traditional conservative) here.

It's the conservatives who have almost all the money in the U.S, so that they donate some of it. My guess is that liberals wouldn't be liberals (with regards to taxing), if they had those digits in their bank accounts. I'm not attacking any of them, but simply illustrating a point. I still prefer a liberal democratic president over a conservative one though.

beyond honest inquiry and curiosity, it is helpful to understand the culture of a profession to which I am interested.

Well, I did vote for Barr, but only because he's Libertarian Lite.

Oh, and the mustache. Got to love the mustache.

So did I.. Not sure how people wanted to vote for a guy wanting to increase tax on business in the midst of the worst financial crisis in 80 years.

Most likely because his major opposition was super weaksauce, and nobody has the gumption to vote third party.

As for those so-call mordern liberals out there that can't not distinguish classical liberalism from the current trend of liberalism aka big government nanny state, I recommend you guys to read some books.
Intellectual *****s: How Ideology Makes Smart People Fall for Stupid Ideas

I guess that you guys can start from here. P.S. You won't be so "liberal" once you have your own practice.👍

From my experience, those talking the loudest are not the position of the class as a whole.
