Hey guys I know it sounds a little paranoid but interviews season is nearing its end and I had some anxiety driven questions. Is it really meaningful( like in a bad way) when you email PDs about being interested in matching w/ the program, or even that they are your #1 choice, and you don't get a response? I'm curious to know if ppl had similar experiences and matched w/ their top (or top 3 or so) programs anyways. Or have ppl who matched with their top programs gotten warm email responses from PDs. Thanks.

I'm in the same boat... So I would love to know if I can put my obsessive thoughts aside for a while

While somewhat discourteous, I would not read a ton into this on a personal level. Don't forget that program directors are coming down to the end of the interview season and are totally getting squeezed, so it is difficult to reply to every single e-mail. One tactic is to e-mail the program administrator or secretary a very polite message (or even to call if you are trying to signal interest in the program) stating that you dropped a note to the program director a while back and that you know they must be very busy at this time of year, but you want to make sure that you really enjoyed your interview and would love to either hear back from the PD by e-mail or to chat on the phone at his or her convenience in the next week or two. This gets the point across without seeming like a nag, which is what you really want to avoid.

try not to read anything into it...

Years ago when I was applying I sent a love note and got back "We're sure you'll be a great resident wherever you end up" Not so much love...

Ended up there and eventually went back to be on the faculty there as well.

Relax and try to distract yourself until Match Day if you've already appropriately filed your match list.

Good luck!
