Who'd have thought that the formation of a cute fuzzy baby would be such a pain to understand?

Tomorrow is my first Gross and Developmental exam, and because there was so much to learn with the upper and lower limbs, I've kinda ignored the beginning embryo lectures. I would like to cry now. 😱

Anyway, I'm just venting on my study break.

SPREAD THE WORD!!! THE EVILNESS OF EMBRYO!!

If I fail anatomy because of the embryo compartment, I'm just going to cry. Actually, I recommend using the BRS book for Embryology. It's very succint, good diagrams and easy to understand instead of your overblown molecular/genetics of embryology book you probably have.

Though the prof himself said, "I hate embryo.. but you have to learn it so what can I do?"

Actually, the embryo on the test wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was. But no worries, I still think Embryology is the science of satan.

Folks, you have to choose your battles. I've just added embryo to the list of things that I'm going to graduate from medical school without knowing. Seriously. The book might as well be in Swahili for the comprehension I can achieve. Ditto for the lectures.

The baby forms. 👍 If it doesn't it either miscarries or goes to the NICU after birth. 👎 Unless it has osteogenesis imperfecta I can sign it off as orthopedically stable. And that is going to have to count as the sum total of my embryology education 😉

But I have to disagree, Embryology (in the words of one prof) is positively elegant! I will gladly trade you those damn cell signaling cascades with all those friggin' abbreviations for an Embryo test any day of the week. Physiology is evil.

That's actually one of the few things I like about embryology.
