Hello,

I am 4th year at Buffalo and am interested in doing an away elective in Emergency Medicine. I wanted to get some feedback about what programs people thought were good. I wanted to do it at a level 1 trauma center and am also interested in NYC programs, but am open to any suggestions. Thank you!

Take care,
CT

Scutwork.com is probably a good place to start, although many of the reviews are somewhat dated. (And the standard disclaimer about how only the really impressed or really disgruntled go on to post things).

I would recommend NOT limiting yourself to level 1 trauma centers. There are many places that are outstanding with lots of interesting pathology (and trauma) that are not designated level 1. Many level 2 trauma centers are not classified as level 1 because of something like lacking a heli-pad, or not having neurosurg in house 24 hours. Neither of these factors will change your experience as a rotating medical student. Just my thoughts.
