How is there an emf/potential difference in magnetism. I know that there is potential difference in electrostatics when one moves the ion from higher/lower to higher/lower potential.. but I'm having a hard time understand the emf/potential difference in magnetism.

The real explanation is fundamental: A changing magnetic field produces an electric field. This induced field is not associated with charges but only with a changing magnetic flux. For purposes of MCAT, just treat it as an experimental finding described by Faraday's law.
