Emory interns, where do you live?

Any advice on the best neighborhoods (should I match there) would be appreciated. I'm currently staying in Lillburn and 85 is a nightmare. Where do you all live? Are there a decent marta lines to Grady/Crawford Long, etc...

Any insight wouldbe appreciated. ATL traffic is such a turnoff, OMG.

i went to med school there, and for the first 2 years i stayed on north druid hills road, about 5-10 minutes from emory, and about 20 minutes from grady/crawford long (via streets).

my last 2 years, i stayed at 450 piedmont (they have a web address)- gated, walking distance to crawford long (5 minute walk), 5 minute drive to grady (from parking lot to parking structure), 10-15 minutes to emory.

also look into inman park, edgewood, virginia highlands, east atlanta, decatur.

I have never heard of an Emory resident living outside I-285 (there may be some but none I know of) and Lilburn is WAY outside of 285. If you live in town, traffic is really not that bad. There is actually decent train service to Grady and Crawford Long and I used to take it as a medical student but you get free parking as a resident anyway. There's bus service but no train service to the VA and Emory. I don't know of any resident that regularly uses public transportation to get to work but there are a handful of bike riders.

People live all over--VA Highlands and Midtown are popular with singles. Decatur and Brookhaven with families. I lived in Buckhead as a student.

I live in Buckhead and its not bad. I think when my lease is up that I will look in midtown. Inman park is nice also. The Post Briarwood seems to be popular. I would second the not living outside the perimeter. The travel times can be in excess of two hours if there is an accident.

Thank you for the replies. I'm going into Psych, I'm a team player and an AMG. So, I feel competitive for Emory. When I get on 85 however, I feel like a demon in hell. I've lived all over the south and really like ATL except for this one huge issue. So, maybe if I match there we'll have a house and an apt. Who knows. Anyway, I really do appreciate the advice.

I live near the intersection of North Druid Hills and Briarcliff. I'm 5 minutes away from Emory/Egleston/VA, and only around 10 minutes from Grady (I take I-85).

I wouldn't take MARTA, at the hours that we work.

I recommend living somewhere between Emory and Grady.

I live by Piedmont Park, near Trader Joe's. It's an awesome location. Takes less than 10 minutes to get to Grady and about 15 to get to Emory.
