Hi everyone! Very lucky to be in this position. Would love all the feedback/insight y'all have. Still waiting to hear back from UChicago which I would also consider to be in my top 3 if I am admitted. All these schools have 1.5 years of pre-clerkship that is P/F.
I'm a bit older (25F) and did a career-changer post-bacc, so I have very little experience with science research. I'm hoping to go into addiction medicine, but I could also see myself as a general internist, psychiatrist, or EM doc. Nothing crazy competitive 😅. Just hoping to work in a safety net hospital or FQHC one day. I'm interested in how to best deliver integrated care to patients who are homeless and/or moving around a lot.
Emory
Pros
Wash U
Pros
Summary: I think I am more similar to the Emory student body and Emory's ethos, but WashU is growing in its street medicine program / harm reduction efforts and I think I could get involved with new initiatives if I went there. I'm all ears!

Emory
Pros
- Current students seemed really down to earth / not gunner-ish; lots of other non-trads
- Public health research is strong and established
- Atlanta is the gay capital of the South 🏳️🌈
- Warmer weather (I'm a Texan,,, I will survive the cold but don't enjoy it)
- Student body is very health-equity focused
- In-house exams 🙁 so worried about step 1 preparedness
- Not guaranteed to complete core rotations at Grady
- Required rotations in Derm, Optho, Anesthesia = less time for community engaged projects / research
- Georgia's 6-week abortion ban tbh. Worried about getting comprehensive OB training
Wash U
Pros
- Reputation for really strong clinical training
- New school of public health = new funding/faculty/projects to get involved with / help start
- All inpatient at Barnes-Jewish, the de facto safety net hospital of the region
- Potential for MD/MSW dual
- Near to my extended family
- Health-equity is not all students' strong-suit or background
- Cold
- LGBTQ+ life is smaller in STL
