My stats:
Overall GPA: 3.44
Pre-requisite GPA: 3.58
GRE: 1190 AW: 3.0
Hours: Outpatient:120, Inpatient:20, Pediatrics: 30
Applied to: UNC, ECU, WCU, MUSC, Emory (still thinking)

My questions are:
Is it too late for me to apply to Emory University? How many students get enrolled to their DPT program each year? Do I have chances to be accepted to their DPT program?

Thanks!

Please help guys

Ooops! Forgot to add major

Major: Biology (B.S.)
Minor: Chemistry

Their deadline is in Feb but they have rolling admission and have already completed 2 rounds of interviews (total 28 pple). They usually have anywhere between 60-70 students. You should submit as soon as possible. One of the girls I talked to (A first year) when I interviewed last week, said that she submitted her app late, and got an interview at the end of march. There were 35 pple who interviewed that day and she said Dr. Kapasi (the head/chair of the program) told them there were only 4 more spots left in the program. So if you submit early, you have a greater chance of getting in. Hope that helps

@jchen707
So are you talking about now that they only have 4 more spots?
Have Emory started accepting?

No, I said that the first year student I talked to who interviewed earlier this year in March submitted her app late and was accepted from the last interview date (when there were only 4 spots left, but 35 were interviewed that day). So my point is that since they're deadline isn't till Feb, but they do rolling admission, submit your app asap.

But to answer your second question, Emory has started to accept pple. They interviewed 11 on 11/11/11 (hehe) and 17 the day I went (12/2). They already started to accept pple from the first round, and will be making decisions from the day I went very shortly (or even right now as we speak).

Hope that helped

@jchen707 according to my stats do you think I have chances of getting into the DPT program of Emory?

It is always hard to tell. Your stats are similar to mine, albeit my pre-req GPA is higher for Emory (than my PTCAS pre-req GPA) due to their requirements (only 5 pre reqs, which I did well in. However, if you get an interview, it means you are a fit for the program academically. The interview is important and they might turn away many applicants who are qualified academically but don't "fit" in with the rest of the pple accepted in terms of personality.

They told us that the first two interview groups are evaluated and selected to be the foundation for the class. All of the interviews afterward are geared towards finding pple who will fit into this group (obviously they accept pple of different personalities, so it is still vague as to how they select pple to "fit" into the accepted pples group). Anyway, if that was confusing, I think that you will never know until you try in terms of getting in. Your stats are fine, but when selecting for the interview they do look at your entire application so keep that in mind.

Ok that helps. I think I will go ahead and submit the application today.

Thanks for your help!
Good Luck with everything!
