so I was putting in my experiences, and i have a lot of ongoing experiences It says to leave the end date blank if you are still doing it, but when you look at your CV it doesn;t say u know 5/2005-present. It just says 5/2005 with nothing after it. So, I was going to put May 2009 as an end date so something's written in there. Do you think I should just leave it blank b/c otherwise it may look like i'm not following directions? I Just hate seeing it blank after my start date. Thanks for your responses in advance 🙂

I left it blank and I assumed everyone else does the same thing... so PD are probably aware... (if they even pay attention)

I am also planning on leaving the ending date blank, as is instructed on the ERAS form.

Related question: Let's say you spent a month or so working full time in a research block (>8 hours a day), but have continued to be involved in the reserach project part time afterwards (1-2 hours per day) for several months. Do you guys think I should just list the month-long block and say 8 hours per day, or list a time block of say 4 months and say something along hte lines of 3 hours a day?

hm for the stuff where I had inconsistent hours, I didn't put hours/week. I hope that's ok!

I hadn't realized leaving it blank was an option. I wonder how that is perceived?

true, wondering if we can someones input? aprogdirector? thanks!!!!!!!

Couldn't you just give an average?.. that's what I did... I assume these length and hours are meant to reflect your level of involvement... so just average the number of hours you work over/wks. I doubt any PDs will care enough to dive into the details.. and even if they ask, you can always just explain it at the interview.

Hmmm just thought about something... if we've submitted an abstract because most of the work has been completed, does that mean we mark the experience as concluding? (even if more work will have to be done in the future for a full publication)

From the ERAS instructions:
Dates of Experience:
From: Month: ___________* Year: _________*
To: Month: ___________* Year: _________ (Leave month/year blank if experience is ongoing)

So, I'd say leaving it blank would be fine.
