Greetings all
This my first post, and my question is dierected to doctors, residents or those who are familiar with Endodontics. I am a general dentist in NY and have developed keen interest in Endo though my experience in private practice, I was just wondering how is it like for a person like me who has been a dentist for sometime as far application goes for Endo, like do they look for expereince or grades? Please advice
sincerly

From what i've read about endo and according to my endodontist (who took the same path you want to) this is actually the preferred route. Thats about all I can add...

Most programs prefer at least one year of experience (i.e. private practice, AEGD, GPR) before they will interview you. At my school, they won't accept you unless you have 1 yr experience. So yes, it is the preferred route.

I know some schools won't take applicants into endo program if they are fresh out of school. Go apply for endo!

what schools do you have in mind? what part of endo attracts you? if I may ask

Thanks guys for your reply. I did check some pages of Endo depts and they seem to really love the experince factor. I will probably apply to Endo Programmes all over but I would love to go to Maryland or VCU for that matter. Why I choose Endo? Well the bulk of my work as an associate here in NY is RCT, Posts and Crowns, not a single day passes unless I do some crowns and Endos, I have always been intersted in furthering my dental knowledge throgh CE courses, but as a dental student I was one of the youngest in the class so every dept that I worked for I was always like wow, I wanna be an OMS,then another day I see a cool resident doing implants and I say I wanna be a periodontist. Then one wise freinds told me you know, to be a good GP is not an easy task and that as I do more and more of something you might be intersted in it. So I started work in this group practice with multi specilities, and I just liked Endo the most, I find it very satisfying to have a nice obturated curved Maxillary 2nd molar. So I reached the conclusion that Endo is what I would love to limit myself into.
