I took a class called Reading and composition my freshman year and that's been it for English. I decided I wanted to try and fulfill the 1 year english requirement, so I'm signed up next year to take a class for English majors that they take their junior year called "introduction to english grammar". Should I drop this and take a composition class to fulfill the comp. requirement that some other schools have?

Is it a comp. requirement or just an English requirement?

I haven't heard about a specific comp. req.

Typically it's just English, but I noticed UCLA and Harvard list a Comp. requirement, so I'm wondering if I shouldn't even apply unless I change over to a comp. class (There are like only two available, neither or very convenient.)

It looks to me like Harvard requires one year of "expository writing" which I think translated into our language as "English classes." As for UCLA, the requirement that I have down is for one year of "English," so I think you should be fine, at least as far as those two schools go.
